| Discover a 15th century arboretum (the oldest in this part of the world), and the town of Ston, with its 5-kilometre long walls. On our way to Ston we will make a first stop at village of Orasac and visit family house. Host will present us the traditional mill and serve us a welcome drink. One of our excursion highlights is Ston with its 5-kilometer long walls, a city built in the 15th century according to a plan with a rectangular scheme of streets and squares. Ston is renowned for its delicious oysters and mussels that we recommend you to taste in one of the local restaurants. Another landmark of Ston which you will visit is its old salt ponds where the salt is still produced today in the old way. We continue to the Arboretum in Trsteno with a 15th century summer residence of the Dubrovnik patrician family Gucetić-Gozze surrounded by a beautiful Renaissance garden. Enjoy the view from its pavilion over the islands or take a walk to the baroque Neptune’s fountain immersed in the luxuriant subtropical vegetation of magnolia, black bamboo, laurel, eucalyptus, palm and camphor trees. Trsteno is also famous for its two gigantic 500-year old plane trees. |
